#1 Vet in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear
King’s Road Veterinary Practice Ltd is an independent practice founded in 2012, led by practice owner and Head Veterinary Surgeon Wendy Rowntree. The website highlights nurse clinics plus health packages (Very Important Paws Health Package, Over 8’s MOT Club, and a Healthy Puppy & Kitten Bundle), and states the practice offers out-of-hours emergency assistance. Recent reviews include concrete examples of care such as an allergy injection visit where treatment options were discussed (including help for fireworks-related stress), and a post-op update sent via WhatsApp with a recovery photo after a mouth operation. Pricing and value are a mixed picture in reviews: some describe “reasonable” prices and a monthly VIP plan, while others report unexpected fees (including £60 for brief phone advice) and higher-priced medicines/tests.
Google rating: 4.8 stars from 545 reviews.

Friendly atmosphere, vet was very with one of our dogs who needed an allergy injection. Also gave us information on other treatments to consider and to help with fireworks which one of our dogs gets stressed out with. Added bonus is that NHS workers get a discount when you show your identification card. Prices are reasonable to, glad my work colleague recommended them.

Usually an exemplory service. Today I was disappointed. Please becareful when contacting for advice. I contacted the vets today for advice after my dog had ingested blood pressure tablets. Receptionist informed me she would need to seek further advice. I informed them of my dogs weight and the tablet she had ingested.I received a 45 sec phone call later from a nurse to inform me that my dog had not ingested so much for it to be dangerous and to monitor her for 24hrs. Astonishingly that cost me £60. I rang because I didn't want to waste a face to face appointment, which had I done so, would have been cheaper. At no time was I informed that this advice over the phone would incur a cost. I am staggered as to what investigation took place in order to justify £60. This seems totally disproportionate.

Nice vet, but very expensive, said they didn't have the cheaper alternative antibiotic, so instead of £12 had to pay £50. Also charged around £50 for urine test that was done on site and took about 5 mins. Not good😔

I’ve been coming here since 2012 when I first took my best friend for her puppy injections, as I lived in the area at the time. Since then I’ve moved further away to Gateshead and stayed here as the quality of care is beyond amazing. Today was a tipping point at how amazing their customer service is, my dog recently had a operation on her mouth it went brilliantly, and on top of that I got a WhatsApp message telling me that she is recovering beautifully with a photo. I was over the moon at the detail & care they put in. I can only thank them. The little touch that really makes you feel relived.

I’ve had the most caring and compassionate service from King’s Road Vets, especially from Laura, Pippy’s Vet. After a long period of illness where there was nothing else could be done for Pippy, we agreed that I would take Pip home after a painkilling injection. Pip passed away in my arms early the next morning at 06.50. 💔
